What to Expect

We know that visiting a new church can feel a little intimidating—whether you're stepping through church doors for the first time or looking for a new faith community. At Elm Grove, we aim to make your experience welcoming, relaxed, and meaningful. We gather to praise God, grow in faith, and share God’s love in a spirit of grace and community. Our worship is heartfelt, our people are friendly (and real!), and there's always room at the table for you. Come as you are—there’s no dress code and no pressure. We’d be honored to have you join us.

When You Arrive

As you enter through the main doors, you’ll find the sanctuary just ahead and a table to the left where you can pick up a bulletin to help guide you through the service. If you’re arriving for Sunday School at 10:00 AM, adults meet in the side room off the sanctuary, while children gather downstairs in the children’s room (stairs are located at the back of the sanctuary). Our worship service begins at 11:00 AM. Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, we’ll be glad to see you and ready to welcome you in.

Children

Children are a cherished part of our church family, and we welcome and encourage their presence in worship. Each service includes a special Children’s Message, designed just for them, and after that, kids are invited to participate in Children’s Church where they can continue learning about God in age-appropriate ways. Whether they stay with you in the pew or head off with their friends, we’re glad they’re here. Wiggly bodies and joyful noise are always welcome!

Communion

At Elm Grove, we celebrate an open table, just as Christ does. That means everyone is welcome to take part in the Lord’s Supper, no matter your background, age, or where you are on your faith journey. We share Communion on the first Sunday of every month as a sacred moment of grace, remembering Christ’s love, joining together in community, and being nourished for the journey ahead. You don’t need to be a member; you are already invited.

Music

At Elm Grove, our music is rooted in the rich tradition of the church, with timeless hymns sung from the United Methodist Hymnal and accompanied by piano. These beloved songs help us lift our hearts in praise and connect with the Spirit in meaningful ways. As Charles Wesley said, “The theology of the people is in their hymns.” We believe these melodies don’t just stir the soul—they shape our faith, carrying the deep truths of God’s love across generations.

Our Pastor

Rev. Tracey Capelety serves as the pastor of Elm Grove United Methodist Church. A graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary and a provisional elder in the United Methodist Church, Tracey brings a heart for grace-filled ministry and a deep commitment to helping others live into their identity as beloved children of God. Her preaching and leadership are rooted in the belief that every person holds sacred worth and is called to grow in faith, love, and service.

Tracey and her husband Kevin have two children, and together they enjoy the simple joys of tending to their flock of ducks, chickens, and turkeys. When they’re not at church or in the coop, you’ll often find them hiking local trails or out on the water kayaking.
